Bob Condotta

— Seattle Times reporter

27-16

Seahawks

“The Seahawks aren't exactly cruising into the post-season. But at their best this season they were better than the Lions, who rank 18th or worst in six of the eight major NFL stat categories (total offense, rushing, passing, points per game, and total defense, rushing defense, pass defense, points allowed per game) and no better than 11th in any of them. Detroit also has not been the same since quarterback Matthew Stafford suffered an injury to the middle finger on his throwing hand on Dec. 11. That Detroit has a solid passing game is worrisome given Seattle's issues playing without Earl Thomas. But if Russell Wilson plays well the Seahawks should be able to advance fairly comfortably.”

Jayson Jenks

— Seattle Times reporter

24-21

Seahawks

“The Seahawks haven't played well in four games, even in their wins. But the Lions are and always have been the best possible matchup for the Seahawks in the playoffs because they aren't great at running the ball, stopping the run or getting pressure on the quarterback”

Larry Stone

— Seattle Times columnist

24-17

Seahawks

“The Seahawks lucked into the only playoff team with less momentum than them. That should be enough to escape with a home win, but the key for this game will be for Seattle to show that it is poised for an extended playoff run rather than two-and-done.”

Matt Calkins

— Seattle Times columnist

24-21

Lions

“Let's be honest -- something isn't right with the Seahawks. As favorable as a matchup as this may seem, Seattle still hasn't shown any consistency on offense and has been mediocre defensively since Earl Thomas went down. It's hard to just flip the proverbial switch in the NFL. I see an upset at CenturyLink.”

Geoff Baker

— Seattle Times columnist

20-17

Lions

“The Lions just played the equivalent of three straight playoff games against arguably the three strongest NFC teams while the Seahawks coasted to a weak division title against sub-par opponents in December. Detroit should have no trouble finding the playoff "gear" they've been in while the Seahawks have to reverse a backwards trend. That emotional boost for Detroit could negate the talent edge Seattle enjoys, especially since an injury-plagued Seahawks secondary and one-dimensional offense will allow Matthew Stafford and his otherwise mediocre team to keep things closer than they should. The point spread of 7 1/2 favoring Seattle is attributable to past accomplishments, not recent play. This game has upset written all over it.”

Matt Pentz

— Seattle Times reporter

21-17

Lions

“This ill-tempered Seahawks season comes to an abrupt end on Saturday night at CenturyLink Field, where Detroit's offense will do just enough to pull off the upset. Matthew Stafford and the Lions will keep the pressure on, and yet another late Seattle rally falls agonizingly short.”

Paul Barrett

— Seattle Times sports editor

17-10

Seahawks

“The Seahawks caught a huge break when Green Bay beat the Lions to win the NFC North. Detroit has lost three in a row, allowed more points than it scored this season and has a coach who had to answer questions this week about his job status.”

Earl Thomas

— Seahawks safety

No score

Seahawks

“My prediction is our front seven will dominate. I don't have a score prediction”
