Washington state gave the Smarter Balanced exams for the second time in spring 2016. The percent of students passing went up compared with spring 2015, although results varied by school and district. The tests cover English/language arts (ELA) and math.

Note: Students who opted out of the test were given scores of zero, and are counted in these numbers as not passing. For student privacy reasons, results aren’t available when only a small number of students took the test or when fewer than 10 passed or failed.
