State proposals could increase density in Seattle neighborhoods

Two proposals under consideration in the state Legislature would require cities such as Seattle to allow denser housing types in areas today zoned for single-family homes. Two competing proposals would allow either fourplexes or six-plexes in the areas near transit and either duplexes or fourplexes in the areas farther from transit. Unshaded areas of the map already allow other building types.
